Self portrait, taken in Lescun, Parc National des Pyrénees, France.
Hello, I'm Liam Whitcher.
I enjoy photography and other forms of art and shoot a wide range themes mostly for fun but I also sell my work.
Living in SW France for the past 15 years, I've been able to access the beautiful countryside (mountains and coast) of this lovely part of the world.
I have a somewhat skewed view of life. This is a positive to my mind. It allows me to see everyday objects differently and find obscure angles.
Having autism, I have to try hard to photograph subjects other than my favourites - which seem to be man-made objects, particularly vehicles and architecture.
An easy transistion therefore is texture. Nature throws up patterns & shadows if we look properly.
I also like to surreptitiously people watch, there are often some fascinating characters about.
I am currently a member of Le Circle Chromatique photography club. We recently exhibited at Navarrenx Marché Nöel with the broad theme "couleur" which was then left to individual interpretation. We have a second showing of our work, Easter 2024. This time will be in our club rooms, where we have a dedicated gallery space.
I don't have the patience or inclination to take commission work.
The pictures that you find here have humour and fun at heart. I sincerely hope that there is something to pass on my pleasure in taking them.

Whitchcraft is simply a play on words between my surname, Whitcher and witchcraft. Incidentally, in times not so distant when reading and writing was certainly not for everyone, often family and first names had many spellings. My own genealogy has thrown up Witcher and Whitcher variations, especially amongst our gypsy branches of the tree.
Coffee dregs or witches coven?
